• Day 3 Nairobi - Lake Oloiden

The next day we travel along the Panafrican Highway to Lake Oloiden. One of the largest and most famous freshwater lakes in the Great Rift Valley. The lake is surrounded by yellow fever trees and papyrus. Here you can take part in a boat trip, where you will certainly see hippos. Among the many bird species, pelicans, cormorants and various kingfisher species are the most represented. However, the mighty call of the fish eagle attracts the most attention. • Day 5 Lake Oloiden - Hells Gate National Park - Nakuru Town (4hrs drive after Hells Gate)
• Day 6 Lake Nakuru National Park - Morning & Afternoon Game Drive

In the morning we drive to the nearby Hells Gate National Park. A plaque commemorating Elsa the lioness adorns the entrance gate to this park. The park is characterised by dramatic cliffs, steep gorges and vast grasslands. The most striking feature is the Hell's Gate Gorge, a narrow, steep-sided gorge carved by centuries of erosion. Two volcanic outcrops, Fisher's Tower and the central tower of Hell's Gate, dominate the landscape, while hot geysers and steam vents can be found in the Olkari Geothermal Area. We look out for game and birds of prey nesting on the cliffs. We spend the night in Nakuru Town. The next day it is not far to Lake Nakuru . This park owes its fame to the soda lake of the same name, home to thousands of flamingos and countless other bird species. On the shore of the lake you can smell the strange smell of the brackish, mineral-containing water. In the dry season it can happen that the water level drops so much that salt deposits can be seen on the edges. Since 1986, Lake Nakuru National Park has had the 'Rhino Rescue project', an initiative specifically set up to protect rhinos from extinction. The chance of encountering rhinos is therefore great in this national park. In addition, leopards, buffalos and giraffes also live here. From Baboon cliff you have a beautiful view of the lake. After our long 'game drive' we spend the night in a hotel in Nakuru town. Accomodation : Punda Millas Nakuru

• Day 7 Nakuru, excursion to Lake Baringo, optional boat trip ( 4hrs)
• Day 8 Nakuru - Kericho - Kisii ( 6hrs)

From Nakuru we make an excursion to Lake Baringo . This lake is the absolute highlight for bird lovers. It is the centre for bird watchers from all over the world to catch a glimpse of the more than 450 bird species that occur around the lake. You can (optionally) go out by boat to visit the crocodiles and hippos in the lake. Of course we will also look for the impressive fish eagles that are common here. There are several Pokot villages in the area where the locals are happy to show you how they live. Accomodation : Punda Milias Nakuru

• Day 9 Kiisi - Serengeti National Park
• Day 10 Serengeti NP, full day 'game drive'

We drive via the border town of Isebania to the famous Serengeti National Park , where we spend the night in an atmospheric 'tented camp'. From here we make several 'game drives' (searches for game). Since the park is so vast, we will spend a full day here to search for game. This largest and most famous park in Tanzania covers an area of 14,500 km² and has a spectacular density of game. Birdwatchers can also indulge themselves. The majority of the Serengeti consists of vast open grasslands with characteristic rock formations here and there, called 'kopjes'. But there are also acacia and savannah woodlands, wooded areas along rivers and here and there a lake and even swamp areas. In addition to the herds of wildebeest, zebras and gazelles, the Serengeti is also known for its lion population. It is not unusual to see lions several times a day, including the black-maned old males. The leopard is also common here and can be found resting in trees during the day. The spectacular annual migration of the wildebeest and zebras takes place in a large circle, which also involves the Masai Mara in Kenya. In the period December-January, the large herd is in the far south of the Serengeti. From March, the animals start moving north. Between May and July, most animals are in the north and west of the park. During the period August-September, the herds are in the Masai Mara, after which they move south again from October.

• Day 11 Serengeti NP - Karatu
• Day 12 Karatu, full day 'game drive' in Ngorongoro crater
• Day 13 Karatu, visit Mto wa Mbu, optional bike ride
• Day 14 Karatu - Arusha

From our lodge in Karatu we leave early in the morning for the spectacular Ngorongoro crater , which we explore all day with 4x4s. The Ngorongoro Conservation Area is one of Africa's most spectacular nature reserves, not only because it is one of the largest craters in the world, but also because of the great diversity and density of game. On the floor of the crater are all members of the so-called ' big five '. The Ngorongoro crater also has a lot to offer for bird lovers. The next day we drive via a beautiful route towards Mto wa Mbu, a beautiful drive. Oddly shaped baobab trees and the view of Lake Manyara provide photogenic images. From our overnight accommodation you can take part in a bike tour through the countryside and along the edge of Lake Manyara National Park. A great way to get in touch with the locals. We then spend the night in the lively town of Arusha.

• Day 15 Arusha - flight to Zanzibar, Stone Town
• Day 16 Zanzibar, Stone Town
• Day 17 Zanzibar (beach)
• Day 18 Zanzibar (beach)
• Day 19 Zanzibar (beach)
• Day 20 Zanzibar - ferry Dar es Salaam (end of tour)

Today we check in for the flight to Zanzibar . The island is our last stop on this trip. The island is a completely different world than the mainland of Africa. Zanzibar has white beaches, a clear blue sea and palm trees, which is in contrast to the savannahs and the wildlife parks in Kenya and Tanzania. The first nights you will stay in the historic Stone Town. The last days we will stay near the beach, where you can relax from all the impressions you have gained on this trip. Take a refreshing dip in the sea, have a drink in the many beach bars and enjoy the view of the ocean. You can of course explore the island further. An interesting excursion is to the various spice plantations on the island or the Jozanibos, where the rare brown colobus monkey lives. You can also discover the underwater world by snorkeling or diving. Completely rested, we return to Dar es Salaam by ferry from where we fly back to Amsterdam, where we arrive the next day.
